About the Freedmen Uplift Watch
This series looks for good news about Black Americans, the descendants of the people freed from slavery in this country. It is about regular people making a real difference where they live: neighbors, volunteers, teachers, small-business owners and community organizers. It does not cover celebrities. Every story comes from real reporting, quoted as reported and linked, and a story is included only when the reporting itself is positive. It is one part of how Kemetic Minds covers the full picture of Black life, alongside our reporting on the hard news.
