Israel’s Eisenkot praises Trump strikes on Iran, warns of nuclear threat

Former Israeli military chief Gadi Eisenkot praised US President Donald Trump’s decision to launch strikes against Iran alongside Israel and warned that Tehran was seeking to develop nuclear weapons, in an interview with the New York Post. Eisenkot, a leading challenger to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of Israel’s parliamentary elections on Tuesday, said he supported Trump’s approach of achieving peace through military strength.[1]

Separately, The Jerusalem Post reported:

Tehran warns of nuclear options and infrastructure strikes if US attacks Iran

Tehran is threatening to respond to a renewed US and Israeli air campaign with strikes on an expanded list of targets, including civilian infrastructure, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal. The warnings, issued publicly and over diplomatic communications, said that Iran would attack not only American bases and warships, but also natural energy infrastructure, natural gas pipelines, airports, and other civilian targets in the Persian Gulf region.[2]

Elsewhere, Dailysabah added:

Trump says US could strike Iran ‘tomorrow’ or reach ‘big, beautiful’ deal

Berk Kutay Gokmen 24 October 2026•Update: 24 October 2026 US President Donald Trump on Saturday said Washington could strike Iran as soon as “tomorrow,” or reach a “big, beautiful” agreement with Tehran, amid reports that he’s weighing renewed attacks on the Islamic Republic. “We’re thinking about doing it, and maybe tomorrow,” Trump told reporters when asked how far along he was in considering a possible attack.[4]

In a related development, Iran International noted:

Iran sends conflicting signals on US deal as Trump raises prospect of strikes

The meeting adds to signs that Moscow is positioning itself as both an ally of Tehran and a potential intermediary with Washington as diplomatic efforts remain deadlocked over Iran’s nuclear program and the sequencing of commitments. Earlier this month, Putin said Russia was prepared to do everything it could to help resolve the crisis and subsequently conveyed Tehran’s position to US President Donald Trump.[5]
