Pentagon orders US military to gear up for Iran strikes; Trump yet to decide dates

The Pentagon has instructed the US central command (CENTCOM) to complete preparations for a possible resumption of major combat operations against Iran. US President Donald Trump has not made a final decision yet on whether to launch fresh strikes, Axios reported, citing US officials.[1]

Separately, Al Jazeera reported:

Tanker hit by multiple projectiles off north coast of Qatar, UKMTO says

British maritime agency has recently reported a rise in attacks on vessels in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. A number of casualties have been reported after a tanker sailing off the north coast of Qatar was struck by multiple projectiles, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency has announced.[2]

Elsewhere, The Guardian added:

Tanker attacked off Qatar as Iran claims route transporting oil through strait of Hormuz will be ‘closed’

A tanker sailing off the north coast of Qatar has been attacked, causing an unknown number of casualties, a British maritime security agency said. The attack came as Iran declared it would close a route in the strait of Hormuz being used to circumvent Tehran’s blockade of traffic.[3]

s national security team held a meeting at Camp David that lasted several hours and covered the war and other issues. The Pentagon instructed US Central Command to complete preparations for a possible resumption of major combat operations in Iran, according to US officials.[4]
