Iran threatens to target US bases, warships if Washington launches ground invasion
Iran will target all US military bases and American vessels if Washington launches a ground invasion of the country, a senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned. Ali Fadavi, head of the advisory group to the IRGC commander-in-chief, made the remarks late Sunday while appearing on an Iranian state television program.[1]
Elsewhere, American Bazaar added:
Oil shipments near Strait of Hormuz turn costlier as sailors risk attacks for $25,000
Oil transport in the Persian Gulf is becoming more expensive and dangerous. With the conflict in the region ongoing, oil companies are using huge tankers to shuttle oil outside the Strait of Hormuz to avoid attacks.[2]
Anadolu Agency also reported:
2nd US aircraft carrier docks in Thailand after Mideast deployment for Iran war
A second US aircraft carrier has arrived in Thailand in just over a month after completing a six-month deployment supporting US military operations against Iran and a naval blockade in the Middle East.[3]
In a related development, Oklahoma Energy Today noted:
Energy briefs–Iran’s demands, Saudis attack Houthis and home heating oil costs soar
The flow of crude from the Persian Gulf has recovered to near-prewar levels, but the latest data shows that much of the oil is reaching markets through routes and shipping arrangements that did not exist before the war, raising the question of whether Iran is losing its leverage in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s oil minister has resigned as the U.S. blockade pushes the country’s crude exports and oil revenues toward zero, handing control of Iran’s most important industry to the head of the National Iranian Oil Company.[4]
