Tehran sees ‌Beijing as potential bridge to Washington

The growing debate has exposed a divide within Iran’s political establishment between those who see NPT membership as offering little protection and others who warn that withdrawal would surrender one of Tehran’s remaining diplomatic and legal advantages. Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, appeared to threaten withdrawal from the treaty on Sunday, saying that “political and destructive actions” by the International Atomic Energy Agency would “push countries toward leaving the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.” But President Masoud Pezeshkian reiterated the same day, during a visit to India, that Iran was not seeking nuclear weapons.[1]

Houthis accuse Saudi Arabia of launching 26 strikes in 24 hours

The war in Yemen intensifies with mounting clashes and reciprocal attacks between Saudi forces and the Houthis. Yemen’s Houthi rebels have said Saudi Arabia carried out 26 strikes against areas under the group’s control in the past 24 hours, as the two sides continue trading attacks amid an escalating war in Yemen, according to the AFP news agency. On Friday, the group claimed Saudi strikes on Houthi-held territory had reached 300 over the past week alone, hitting positions across the areas it controls, AFP reported.[2]

Report: Pentagon’s Public Tally Understated U.S. Troop Deaths in Iran War

Twenty-two U.S. troops have been killed in the Middle East since the war with Iran began in February – four more than the number publicly disclosed by the Pentagon, according to U.S. officials who spoke to The Washington Post. The Washington Post reports that, according to six U.S. officials, there have been at least 22 fatalities since the war in Iran started.[3]
