UN-backed experts cite possible US war crimes in Iran

Human rights experts commissioned by the U.N.’s top human rights body say they have found “reasonable grounds” to believe the United States committed war crimes in two strikes in Iran, including on a school in the southern city of Minab. They also accuse Iran’s theocratic government of carrying out crimes against humanity against its own people in a report published Thursday.[1]

What to know about potential US-Iran agreement

The one-page memo calls for negotiations over 30 days. The U.S. and Iran are negotiating over a memorandum of understanding aimed at breaking through the standoff in the Strait of Hormuz and setting a timeline for both sides to work out a more comprehensive nuclear deal, according to officials familiar with the matter.[2]

Tens of thousands flee as Iran-backed Houthis draw Yemen into wider war

CAIRO (AP) — As Houthi rebels closed in, Eshraq Abdel Gelil and her husband fled their home, walking through the mountains before catching a ride to a nearby city. Four months pregnant, she feared another miscarriage.[3]

Farmer who voted for Trump talks about impact of high costs of Iran war, tariffs: “We’re all just in survival mode”

Matt Bell, 52, has been farming for more than half his life in central North Carolina. He grows soybeans, corn and wheat and raises beef cattle on more than 1,000 acres.[4]

Ryan sponsors bill to prevent Iran war casualty numbers from manipulation

KINGSTON, N.Y. — U.S. Rep. Pat Ryan stepped up his Iran War opposition by leading a coalition of Democratic veterans pushing a bill to “honor the immense sacrifices made by US troops in the Iran War, and stop Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth’s desperate attempts to obscure the true cost to our troops and the American people,” according to the congressman’s office. Ryan, D-Gardiner, who represents the 18th Congressional District, sponsored the “Honoring the Sacrifice of Troops in War Act.”[5]
