What happened at RAF Fairford
The incident was at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, a base US bombers have used in recent months. Police were alerted to three “suspicious vehicles” near the airbase in the early hours of Sunday, September 27, and five UK nationals in their 20s from London were arrested on suspicion of explosives and terrorism offences, then released on police bail, counter-terror police said.[4]
A sixth man, a 25-year-old dual UK-Iranian national, was later arrested in London on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts and has also been bailed. Counter-terrorism police said a quantity of petrol, but no explosive devices, was found in the vans.[5] Earlier coverage on this site: US bombers pulled from RAF Fairford base after suspected terror plot.
