As reported by The Guardian:

Donald Trump and JD Vance deployed a familiar US playbook on Europe, claiming that immigrants were responsible for rioting in France that began as student protests against crumbling schools and the high cost of living.

The nationwide protests on Saturday were called over rising fuel prices and falling purchasing power, and in several cities they escalated into clashes with police that left a historic town hall torched and led to 1,800 arrests.

On Monday, overnight curfews were issued for a number of French cities, including parts of Paris. Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform on Sunday, blaming “the immigration of people from an entirely different world” for the violence and looting.

He urged Paris to “Close your Borders and take control”. Vance, a day earlier, argued that the unrest was the result of what he called a liberal failure.[1]

On the record

Earlier in the day, the official White House X account posted: “If you import the third world, you become the third world.” An array of Republican politicians have lined up to make a similar argument, seeking to leverage the unrest in France against Congressional Democrats ahead of the 3 November midterms, in which their party faces significant headwinds.[1]

"Because today, there's no money for the police, there's no money for the army, there's no money for the hospitals, there's no money for the schools," Petit said.[2]

What Fox News reports

French soccer legend Emmanuel Petit ripped into the violent rioters wrecking cities across France, telling the lawless agitators who hate the country to "go back from where you came."

The 1998 World Cup winner fired up Instagram Sunday to vent his "profound deep anger" after protests turned into total madness with torched cars, looted stores, and trashed streets. More than 2,400 rioters have already been locked up nationwide, Fox News Digital reported.[2]

What the official record says

State says, in its own words:

We are the heirs, we inherited from Greece and from Rome, and ultimately through Europe, many of the values that today are in our country.[3]

We – I think we’ve started seeing – I’ve had a lot of conversations with European leaders, particularly in Greece.[3]

State says, in its own words:

QUESTION: Sir, I’d like to ask you about the relationship between the U.S. and Ukraine in that on Saturday you were asked about Starshield and you mentioned that President Zelenskyy may not know what he’s talking about the way he’s characterized it.[4]

It’s a very dangerous conflict – not just dangerous for Ukraine and Russia but dangerous for the world and for the countries of Europe, especially in Eastern Europe.[4]

State says, in its own words:

I was just discussing with several of you how Alexander Hamilton is from Nevis and, frankly, a huge part of our economy was the triangular trade between Europe, the eastern shore of the United States, the Caribbean.[5]
