As reported by NBC News:

Hours after Democrats routed Republicans in the midterm elections, Vice President JD Vance blamed his party’s losses on Americans’ frustration over the U.S. war with Iran, which has driven up oil prices at a time when costs are already high.

“The reason we lost is the war.

The president himself said so last night,” Vance said in a lengthy post on X. “If you’d like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so.

Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that’s at least honest,” Vance wrote.

“But everyone knows why we lost.[1]

What Yahoo reports

There's no reason to think the state will shrink, which is really bad news.

It's impossible—and unwise, regardless of your ideology—to read the midterm elections as anything other than a stinging, unambiguous rebuke of President Donald Trump and his MAGA agenda, including tariffs, unprecedented peacetime government involvement in businesses, ugly mass deportations, grandiose levels of personal corruption, and late-breaking obsessions with the male body and algae.

Despite historically low approval ratings, Trump urged voters to "pretend I'm on the ballot" and reaped the whirlwind.[2]

What the official record says

Whitehouse says, in its own words:

Trump and Vice President JD Vance maintained an unmatched pace of travel across the country, meeting with Americans face-to-face to highlight the Administration’s Promises Made, Promises Kept record.[3]

In the three months running up to the election, Trump did almost 200 press-facing events, spanning rallies, gaggles, and standard remarks… The 170 press-facing events that Trump has done since August 1 total over 85 hours, and include 79 remarks, 62 gaggles, and 29 sprays.[3]

Whitehouse says, in its own words:

It’s not going to happen.” (2/9/24) – ✅ PROMISE KEPT: President Trump has not wavered in his support for Americans’ Second Amendment rights.[4]
