The number of deaths linked to dengue infection rose to 415 since January this year as six more patients died in the past 24 hours until 8:00 am Thursday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).[1]

Key Facts

  • Disease: Dengue
  • Where: Location not yet reported
  • Status: Reported by World Health Organization (WHO)[2]
  • Outlets reporting: 4
  • Official source: World Health Organization (WHO)
  • CDC travel notice: Level 1 – Global Dengue (October 2, 2026)

The Threat

The health authorities also reported 1,886 new cases of hospitalisations due to the mosquito-borne viral disease taking the total caseload to 132,105.[1]

Of the total hospitalisations this year, 6,251 patients remain in hospitals across the country while the rest returned home after recovery. Last year 273 people died due to dengue infection while 67,464 cases were reported during the corresponding period (until October 28) last year.[1]

The mosquito-borne disease is transmitted to humans through infected mosquitoes but there is no treatment for the infection.[1]

World Health Organization (WHO) says: Presently, 5.6 billion people globally are estimated to be at risk of infection from arboviruses, and this number is estimated to increase by 2050. Most cases of arboviral diseases are mild and self-limiting, however, if worsening or severe cases are not recognized and managed appropriately, it can lead to negative patient outcomes, including death.[2]

Transmission Method

What the reports say about exposure and spread: In response to a measles outbreak rapidly spreading across the country, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has already vaccinated about 20 million children since April. Measles is a highly contagious viral disease, which affects individuals of all ages and remains one of the leading causes of death among young children globally.[1]

How dengue spreads, according to the World Health Organization: Dengue spreads to people through the bite of infected mosquitoes, mainly Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus.[3]

Affected Regions

Places named in the reports: Bangladesh.

  • Of the total fatalities, 105 were confirmed cases, said DGHS bulletin.[1]

Holistic & Immune Defense Outlook

There is no herb, supplement or diet that has been shown to prevent or cure dengue. There is no specific treatment for dengue. Pain can be managed with paracetamol (acetaminophen); ibuprofen and aspirin should be avoided because they raise the risk of bleeding. Early medical care greatly lowers deaths from severe dengue. If you have symptoms after a possible exposure, the most important step is to see a clinician quickly and tell them where you have been.

The World Health Organization’s protective steps for this disease:

  • Avoid mosquito bites, especially during the day.
  • Get rid of standing water where mosquitoes breed.

What a whole-body approach can do is keep your baseline strong, so your body is better able to respond when it meets any infection. The basics have the best evidence behind them: steady sleep, a diet rich in vegetables, fruit, beans and whole grains, enough water, regular movement, and keeping routine vaccinations current.

The healers of Kemet left one of the oldest medical texts in the world, the Ebers Papyrus, written around 1550 BCE. Its lesson still holds: watch the body closely, and act early.
