KEMETIC MINDS — BREAKING NEWS
September 12, 2026

Russian strikes killed eight civilians and wounded dozens of others across Ukraine on Saturday, officials said, a day after President Vladimir Putin warned that European governments sending troops into Ukraine would mean “a war with Russia” [1].

Key Facts

  • Putin told reporters Friday at a BRICS summit in India that European troops in Ukraine would trigger direct conflict: “Now they’re talking about how they’re considering sending troops into Ukraine. That means a war with Russia” [1].
  • Putin also denied Russia threatens Europe, saying “there is no such threat and never has been” and “We do not threaten, nor do we intend to threaten, European countries” [1].
  • In the Black Sea port of Odesa and the surrounding area, 35 people were wounded overnight in what regional head Oleh Kiper called a “massive attack”; a residential high-rise was hit and its upper floors were completely destroyed [1].
  • Two people were killed and one wounded when drones struck a residential area overnight in Zaporizhzhia, regional head Ivan Fedorov said, and one person died with three wounded in Kryvyi Rih, according to local officials [1].
  • Three people were killed Saturday when cars were hit by drones in Kramatorsk, in Ukraine’s partially occupied Donetsk region, and two more died in a Russian attack on a grocery store in the Zhytomyr region, local officials said [1].

Eight Deaths Reported Across Four Regions

The eight deaths reported Saturday span four separate areas of Ukraine. Officials described the strikes as part of an intensifying air campaign that uses ballistic missiles and jet-powered drones to pierce Ukrainian defenses [1].

Moscow’s attacks have targeted Ukraine’s power grid ahead of winter, in what officials say is meant to demoralize civilians [1].

What the damage looks like on the ground. In Odesa, the overnight attack wounded 35 people and destroyed the upper floors of a residential high-rise, according to the regional head [1]. In Zaporizhzhia, drones hit a residential area, killing two and wounding one [1].

Separately, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces struck two chemical industry facilities inside Russia, one in Samara and one in Perm [1].

The governors of those two Russian regions did not immediately comment [1].

Poland and Moldova Report Incidents at Border Crossings

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Thursday that two incidents along Ukraine’s borders with Poland and Moldova this week were a preview of potential intensified Russian provocations at Ukraine’s border crossing points with Europe [1].

Two people died when Russian drones hit the Starokozache border crossing between Ukraine and Moldova on Tuesday night, Tusk said. A “direct threat” to a Polish-Ukrainian crossing point on Wednesday night was avoided only because of cooperation between Warsaw and Kyiv, he said [1].

The two accounts sit in direct tension. Putin said Russia poses no threat to Europe and never has, while Tusk characterized the week’s border incidents as a possible preview of more to come [1].

Some European leaders have pledged their commitment to a potential peacekeeping force for Ukraine — a prospect Moscow has repeatedly described as unacceptable [1].

What’s Still Unconfirmed

No independent confirmation of the Ukrainian strikes on the Samara and Perm chemical facilities has been reported in the sourcing, and the governors of both Russian regions had not commented as of Saturday [1].

Casualty figures in Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih, Kramatorsk, the Zhytomyr region and Odesa come from Ukrainian local officials and regional heads, not from an independent monitor [1].

Details of the Wednesday night “direct threat” to the Polish-Ukrainian crossing point were not fully described, and no response from Moscow to Tusk’s characterization of the two border incidents was reported in the sourcing [1].
